HEADING out for a night on the town wouldn't be the same without having a cheeky tipple.

Whether it be beer, wine, cider or even a bottle of champagne, we all have our favourite.

But do you remember some of these drinks from years gone by?

Check out our list of nostalgic alcoholic drinks that were popular in the 90s....

WKD

Brits necked 200million bottles of alcopops as the 90s ended and we headed into a new century.

And it was WKD that was by far the most popular brand - coming in both blue and orange colours.

But sadly sales have slumped since the Cheeky Vimto has fallen out of fashion.

White Ace

Students are known for not exactly being flushed with money during their student days.

So for their nights out during the 90s, White Ace cider became the drink of choice.

Why? Well it was cheap and strong.

Vodkat

White spirit Vodkat hit shelves in the 90s and was popular - despite causing massive controversy.

It first came under fire for its so-called sexist advertising campaign that was aimed at women.

And a high court ruling later decided that the drink could no longer call itself a vodka as it wasn't quite strong enough.

MD 20/20

It came in some many flavours and colours, it was often hard to keep up with which were on offer.

But that didn't stop people enjoying MD 20/20, which you can actually still buy today.

The drink is a fortified wine made from grapes, citrus and sugar.

Barcardi Breezer

Another alcopop that Brits went made for when they were first released - giving WKD a run for its money.

But unlike its rival, it had so many flavours and colours - it's hard to remember them all.

There was definitely lime, orange, pineapple, cocunit, raspberry and a whole host of others.

Lambrini

The ad told us that "Lambrini girls just want to have fun!"

And many a girls get-together would have ended in a fun night thanks to Lambrini.

But did you know its not actually a wine, but in fact a pear cider.

Apple Sourz

If you felt flash and wanted to get in a round of shots - chances are you've bought Apple Sourz.

The bright green chaser was a favourite among students and other young people in nightclubs.

And the bottle always stood out on the bar thanks to it glow in the dark glass.

Smirnoff Ice

A cloudy liquid that mixed a lemon flavour with vodka is what went into a Smirnoff Ice.

And it became a cult drink in the 90s thanks to its easy drinking properties.

But be careful ordering one in France or America as there, a Smirnoff Ice is actually a malt beer.

Aftershock

You had to be brave to agree to take a shot of Aftershock - especially the hot cinammon flavour.

The green ainseed variety was just as potent and it eventually was discontinued in 2009.

But it provided many a happy memory at student parties across the country in the 90s.

Hooch

At it's peak, alcoholic lemonade Hooch was selling 2.5million bottles a week in Britain.

And even today, people reminisce about alcopop, which no party was complete without.

But did you know that the name refers to William Hooper, the inventor of the hot water bottle?
