LIL Tjay was involved in beef with a string of fellow rappers years before he was shot in an unrelated attempted armed robbery this week.
Back in 2020, the 21-year-old rapper sparked an Instagram fight with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Don Q, and 6ix9ine.
The argument is not linked to the shooting on Wednesday, for which a suspect has now been arrested.
In May of 2020, Lil Tjay said in an Instagram post that he isn't "tryna argue" anymore after he insulted the three rappers, according to the music magazine Complex.
The rapper explained his actions towards his fellow rappers in an Instagram reel.
"This is why I never like posting a lot because I can't control myself, start getting out of hand and s**t. My fault for getting out of composure," said Tjay.

The week or so before this some-what apology, Tjay declared himself the King of New York upon teasing his State of Emergency mixtape.
He then started fights with A Boogie and 6ix9ine on Instagram.
"ALL THAT OTHER NA NA NA S**T ND SNITCH RAINBOW HAIR S**T GOING ON IN MY CITY A DUBB," he wrote alongside the teaser.
Don Q, who worked with A Boogie on HighBridge The Label: The Takeover mixtape, immediately fired back.
"Word to my mother, I'm not saving n***as no more. Next time n***as see n***as, n***as getting stripped out of everything, respectfully. I'm telling you now," said Don Q in a video addressing Tjay.

Tjay escalated the fight by responding with: "Yo, you can suck my f***ing d**k, how 'bout that, n***a?"
"Yo, Don Q, suck my d**k, n***a. Slap the shit out of you, n***a. You stupid, n***a? You f*****g dumb? Y'all n***as is real p***y."
The fighting continued with Don Q asking Tjay to "come outside" if he really means what he says and Tjay mocking Don Q's meer 500,000 Instagram followers.
A Boogie and Tjay's beef started when A Boogie subliminally accused Tjay of stealing his sound.
"N***as be mad when it the next n***a time to shine," Tjay said at the time.
A Boogie then responded, "Fr tho this s**t is getting outta hand I'm not tryna knock nobody hustle I'm just getting sick of the craft ya bringing to the table."
Tjay is now in the spotlight again, but this time it's not just about an Instagram feud.
Rumors had been circulating on social media that the rapper was dead after multiple shots were fired near City Place Shopping Center in Edgewater.
However, these have been confirmed as untrue.
