DISHWASHERS have revolutionized the washing up game in kitchens across the country.

But what if there was more your dishwasher could do for you?

Experts at The Cleaning Authority have recommended additional uses for your dishwasher, reports NBC.

"If you only use your dishwasher to clean dishes, you aren't using it to its full potential," said the VP of The Cleaning Authority.

You can use your dishwasher to clean a wide variety of household items, including baseball caps.

The Cleaning Authority suggests using your dishwasher to clean rubber flipflops and canvas sneakers.

TikTok user Anna Lanier tried out the shoe-cleaning hack and posted the results.

"Yes ma'am, I am washing my flops in the dishwasher," she said in her video.

Anna put her shoes on the top shelf for a full rinse cycle.

"Let me tell you, they came out fresh and clean. I would do it again absolutely," Anna said.

She also washed her hairbrush in the machine, another item recommended by The Cleaning Authority.

Anna's followers were less than impressed with her cleaning hack. One user commented: "And this is the reason I don't eat at people's houses!"

Another commenter asked: "Why not just put them in the clothes washer???? I do it all the time."

Another item which experts recommend cleaning in the dishwasher is your makeup brush.

TikToker Simone Monique posted a video of her cleaning all her brushes in her dishwasher.

In her video, Simone commented on how the method was likely to perceived as unhygienic by her followers and clarified she had disinfected the machine.

"I'm going to bleach and sanitize it, so it will be good," she explained.

Instead of using a dishwasher detergent, Simone put blackhead eraser and facial cleanser into her machine.

She then added "just a little bit" of dish soap, before turning on her machine.
