NFL head coach Matt LaFleur was left completely stunned after an awkward moment with a security guard.

The Green Bay Packers coach was casually jogging towards the tunnel inside Ford Field at halftime.

But he was shocked to see a security guard at the Detroit Lions' stadium try to block him.

The guard and LaFleur ran into each other in a moment that was caught on the FOX broadcast.

The Packers coach looked back in anger at the steward as he made his way off the field.

It happened during the Packers-Lions clash that kicked off the NFL's Thanksgiving triple header.

Fans wondered whether the guard thought LaFleur was a fan trying to sprint down the tunnel.

One said: "He probably thought he was a fan that ran on the field."

Another commented: "I'm not sure why this happened, he's on the sideline the entire game."

A third joked: "Better defense than the Lions."

According to the FOX broadcast, the Packers coach claimed that was the first time something like that had ever happened to him.

But LaFleur's anger was short lived as the Packers won 29-22 at their division rivals.

Jordan Love threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns to help the Packers improve to 5-6 this season.

The Lions, meanwhile, dropped to 8-3 after the shock home defeat.
