NICK Chubb has had a successful knee surgery.

The NFL running back, 27, back could return at "some point in the 2024 season," the Cleveland Browns have said.

Browns head Physician James Voos performed Chubb's surgery at University Hospitals Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute.

Although successful, another procedure will be necessary to repair the former second-round NFL pick's ACL, the Browns said in a statement on Saturday.

"Yesterday's surgery repaired damage to his medial capsule, meniscus, and medial collateral ligament," the statement read.

"As expected, a second surgery will be scheduled to repair his anterior cruciate ligament in the coming months.

"Estimated recovery time from the surgeries indicate that Nick would be able to return to play at some point in the 2024 season."

The update came after Cleveland's tight end David Njoku suffered burn injuries to his face and arms ahead of Sunday's clash with the Baltimore Ravens.

Njoku got hurt while trying to light up a fire pit in his backyard on Friday night, leaving him questionable to play in the matchup with the Ravens.

Injuries keep piling up in the Browns' camp in an unfortunate start to the 2023 NFL season.

In addition to Njoku's potential absence, they might face Baltimore without quarterback Deshaun Watson, who's been dealing with a shoulder issue.

Chubb has been sidelined since the 26-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

The four-time Pro Bowler could be heard screaming in pain after clashing with Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in the first half.

His knee bent 90 degrees as Fitzpatrick dove into the running back's legs to stop him from reaching the end zone.

The injury was so gruesome that ESPN refused to show a replay of the play on live TV.
