A CHEATING paramedic has been charged with murder after allegedly using EYE DROPS to poison his wife and claim a $250,000 life insurance payout.

Joshua Hunsucker, 35, was arrested after his grieving mother-in-law grew suspicious about his new girlfriend and reported him to cops.

His wife Stacey Robinson, 32, was found slumped on the kitchen table in September 2018.

Her death was initially ruled as natural, but detectives reopened the case when her mother Suzie told them he had been cheating with another woman.

A blood sample was retested and found to contain a fatal dose of tetrahydrozoline - a chemical usually found in eye drops.

Stacey died just two weeks after a nurse was arrested in South Carolina for murdering her husband with eye drops.

The case drew widespread media attention, and detectives believe it may have given Hunsucker the idea.

North Carolina fraud investigator Jordan Green said: "We have probable cause he poisoned Mrs Hunsucker with Visine, which caused her death.

"The level of tetrahydrozoline would have had a dramatic effect on her heart, which would cause heart stoppage in a short amount of time."

Joshua collected $250,000 from two life insurance policies within weeks of her death.

Colleagues reportedly said they were surprised at how unaffected he was by the sudden tragedy.

He has denied all charges.
